CONTEST RULES:
- Each grade or age category entering the contest must contain their submission to a maximum story length. Full stories or excerpts of stories may be submitted.
- Published and unpublished writers may enter their own original work into the contest.
- All entries are due on or before March 1, 2019. Prizes will be awarded in US dollars on or before May 15, 2019.
- Entries shall be submitted as PDF files.
- Stories shall be in text-only form (no pictures or photos). When possible, it will be appreciated if stories can be submitted using 1.5 line spacing, and size 12 Times New Roman black font, with the title of the story centered on the first line of the first page. Page margins can be one-inch at top, bottom, left, and right sides, with page numbers at the bottom right of each page.
- Judging for the contest shall look for imaginative and innovative thinking, style, and for voice (what "wows" or moves the reader to hope).
- Winners of the contest will be mailed a "permission to publish" form. They will be asked to, but not required to, sign this form. For those winners who choose to sign the form, their work will be published on the WritetheGoodFuture.org website for a set length of time.
- Upon entering the contest, writers are required to submit the Entry Registration Form which must include the following:
- Name
- Email address (used for notification of prizes, and for any questions pertaining to the entry). Please note that in some school districts, it is not possible for outside email addresses (like [email protected]) to send an email back to the student, in this case, it is best to use a teacher's or a non-school email address.
- Grade in school or post-high school designation
- Mailing address (used by Write the Good Future for mailing the prize money and a request form for publication on the website)
- A file upload of your story in PDF format.

You are asked to read these terms of use prior to submitting the entry form and entering your work in the contest. By entering the form and by entering your work in the contest you accept these terms of use. If you cannot accept these terms of use, then do not submit the entry form and enter your work in the contest.
You agree that you will not submit any material that is malicious, obscene, or plagiarized from another source.
You understand that in submitting your entry form to the contest, Write the Good Future will do its best to keep your information confidential, and use it only to contact you with questions, answers, or clarification, to inform you if you have won the contest, to send you a winning check, or to write to ask you for permission to publish your written entry on the website. While we hope that this is the only concern for our contest, due to the possibility that the material could be hacked from the system, and due to the litigious nature of our society, the following legal wording is included here to protect the Write the Good Future team members and funders.
Your use of the website and contest is at your sole risk.
